DIANE K. SHERWOOD, LMSW, C-ACSWCM
PRESIDENT


Ms. Sherwood is a social worker who, with her husband, Roger Sherwood, established Sherwood Associates, Inc., an eldercare planning and management service, in 1989 and expanded and incorporated shortly thereafter.  

Ms. Sherwood was the Founding Director of The Caregivers Exchange, one of the earliest corporate eldercare programs in the country.  She was also Director of Human Services at St. Margaret’s House, a 250 unit congregate living facility in New York City where she developed innovative services for the elderly, a handbook on cross-cultural communication and a demonstration project on empowerment of the elderly.   Ms. Sherwood has lectured on eldercare topics for Article 81 Guardianship training through The Brookdale Center for Healthy Living and Longevity, corporations and community organizations.

In addition to holding an MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work, Ms. Sherwood pursued graduate studies in sociology at The College of William and Mary and has a BA from Alfred University.  She is a licensed New York State Social Worker and through The National Association of Social Workers holds certification as an advanced care manager.  She is a member of The Aging Life Care Association formerly known as The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers since 1991.


 
ROGER SHERWOOD, Ph.D, LCSW, ACSW
VICE PRESIDENT

Dr. Sherwood is a retired Associate Professor at The Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College, City University of New York where he taught for thirty-five years in the Individual and Family Sequence.  In addition, he also has served as a therapist with veterans and is a Clinical Consultant at The Hudson Valley Health Care System-Montrose Campus since 1986.  For the past nine years he has been Director of the Project for Return and Opportunity in Veterans Education at Silberman.  He has published in the areas of gerontology, veterans and Post-Traumatic Stress and dialysis patients’ compliance.  Dr. Sherwood has his Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Chicago and his Doctorate in Social Work from Columbia University.


 
HELEN RUBEL, LCSW-R, ACSW
SENIOR CARE MANAGER

Helen Rubel has extensive and diverse experience working with adults, children and families with a wide variety of issues. Prior to joining the team at Sherwood Associates, she worked as a treatment care coordinator and clinical social worker at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Ms. Rubel earned her BA at New York University and her Masters Degree in Social Work from Boston College. She is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker.


 
MARJORIE A. THROPE, MA, LMSW, ACHP-SW
CARE MANAGER

Ms. Thrope is a New York State Licensed Social Worker. She has a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from New York University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Marjorie has worked with the geriatric population for over 24 years, having supervised an Enriched Housing program for senior citizens, was Director of Social Services at nursing homes, and served as a social worker with a Hospice program. Her commitment to respecting and maintaining the dignity of all citizens, at any stage of the life cycle, continues to this day at Sherwood Associates, Inc. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and past president of The Health Care Social Workers' Association. She is an associate member of the national and New York Chapter Aging Life Care Association and is credentialed by NASW as an Advanced Certified Hospice Palliative Social Worker.


 
RITA MCGLYNN
ASSISTANT CARE MANAGER AND SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER

Ms. McGlynn worked for ten years at General Motors and in the Human Resources Department of a pharmaceutical company for another four years, where she honed her planning and organizational skills. She manages multiple complex tasks efficiently and effectively. She serves as caregiver coordinator for those families utilizing home care workers.

She brings both a practical and sensitive approach to assisting families with coordinating relocations or apartment clean outs. Over the years, she has developed a considerable network of antique, furniture and art dealers, movers and charitable organizations with whom she collaborates to accomplish the moves, sales and donations.


 
MONICA RAHAMAN
OFFICE MANAGER

Ms. Rahaman brings to Sherwood Associates, Inc. over ten years of banking experience. She studied finance and accounting at the college level, oversees our internal fiscal operations as well as supervises the administrative staff. Monica keeps a close eye on clients’ Household Cash and Retainer Accounts and enjoys helping our clients and their families, particularly in regard to the complexities of client payroll matters.


 
JUDY KUNZ
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Judy Kunz is a native of the Bronx, New York City. She received her BA. from the College of Mt. St. Vincent in Riverdale. She has worked as an administrative assistant at The United Hospital Fund of New York, the nation’s oldest federated charity, and at Kay Windsor, Inc. before joining Sherwood Associates, Inc. Her hobbies include reading and history.
